t's that time of the year, where we usually have a Youth Bonfire to celebrate the end of the school year (that is, a bonfire for the youth, not made out of the youth, haha!). Only, since there's currently a fire ban due to ongoing dry conditions, we'll be having a "Not-A-Bonfire" instead!

This Tue. Jun. 07, 7-9pm the teens are welcome to join us for a time of capture the flag and root beer floats on the porch (and indoor s'mores) at the Hoffman residence at 27660 Road P, Dolores, CO. Invite your friends and we hope to see you all there!

On Sun. Apr. 24 at 12:00pm (right after the morning service), we will have our Annual Church Meeting, where we will elect members to be Delegates to the District Assembly, and our Church Officers will read their yearly reports on the health and engagement of the local church.

This year, our District Superintendent Dr. Askren has asked that we not elect a new Board, as retaining the current board will help the pastoral transition process to run more smoothly. The Board voted to approve Dr. Askren's request to retain the current Church Board through 2023 at the March Board Meeting. All members age 15 or above may vote at the Annual Church Meeting. We will send out a list of the nominees who are running on Sun. Apr. 10. If you have any questions, please feel free to give me a call!

Christ is Risen! Holy Week and Easter are right around the corner! We will be holding a special Easter Service to celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord on Sun. Apr. 17th at 10:45am. This is a great time to invite friends and family to come and hear what we are all about; especially those who may not know about Christ or have a church home.

Before the service, we will be having an Easter Sunday Breakfast in lieu of Sunday School at 9:30am (everyone is invite to bring a dish of their choice), and after the service we will have an Easter Egg hunt for the kiddos! We hope to see you there!

On Easter Sunday, we hope you will join us for our annual Easter Breakfast at 9:30am, as we begin our celebration of Christ's Resurrection with a time of food and fellowship. Feel free to invite your family and friends and bring your favorite breakfast dish to share!

After breakfast, we’ll have our Easter Worship Service at 10:45am and then after the service we’ll have an Easter Egg hunt for the kiddos. We hope to see you all there!

In lieu of a traditional Good Friday Service, we’ve decided to do something a little different this year. From 6-7:30pm on Good Friday (Apr. 15), we will open the sanctuary for anyone to come and spend an unstructured time of open prayer, receive anointing for the sick, or receive Communion. We invite you to spend this time with us in contemplation and thanksgiving for the tremendous sacrifice of our Lord on the cross for all humankind. “God proves his love for us in that while we still were sinners Christ died for us,” - Rom. 5:8.

Alright men, it's time to break out those cook's aprons and dust off those secret family recipes! We will be holding a Chili Cook-Off Extravaganza! On Sun. Dec. 05 @6pm. Members of our Men's Ministry will be vying for bragging rights to the "Best Red Chili," "Best Green Chili," "Best Special Chili," and "Hottest Chili' awards.

Everyone is welcome to be our taste testers and vote on each of these categories. Tickets to be a taster are $2. Our Ladies' Ministry will be holding a Bake Sale as well, with proceeds going toward our Youth Ministry as our Teens volunteer to handle the ticket and baked good sales, and help with the set-up and tear-down.

Cortez Nazarene is excited to welcome Phillip and Monica Carr, LINKS missionaries to the Democratic Republic of the Congo as they share with us the amazing things God has been doing on the Africa Central Field through the ministry of the Church of the Nazarene.

Phil serves as the Field Education Coordinator and Clergy Development while Monica is serving as the Field SDMI (Discipleship) Coordinator. Monica has been active in teaching oral Bible storying, has worked in trauma healing, and enjoys ministering to street children through “Under the Bridge Ministry,” which was started by the local church. Phil’s focus is on theological education, leadership development, encouraging and mentoring the leaders of the street children ministry, starting a soccer ministry, and life style evangelism.

They are praying for true transformation in this beautiful nation and across the Central Field, and we want to unite with them in prayer, mission, and support.

Our church will be hosting another Trunk-Or-Treat this Halloween, Sat. Oct. 30, from 2-4pm! Last year we had a ton of fun sharing with the community and we had over 550 costumed kids come through to trick-or-treat!
